Mn Department of Health: Healthy Minnesota Workplace Initiative
Project Overview: The goal of the Healthy Minnesota Workplace Initiative is to promote good health where people work, by implementing healthy eating and active living strategies.
Key activities of the initiative include:
creating a Workplace Wellness Toolkit and Web site for employers to use to implement worksite wellness programs (released August 2007)
awarding mini-grants to public and private sector workplaces to pilot-test the Toolkit
holding a Governor's Worksite Wellness Summit to promote the initiative statewide
The initiative is being funded by a grant from the National Governor's Association. Minnesota was one of 13 states to receive a Healthy States grant from NGA in September 2006
The Initiative is administered by the Minnesota Department of Health and guided by a Policy Team, consisting of Governor policy advisors, members of the Governor's Health Cabinet, Department of Employee Relations (DOER), contracted health insurers, employers from urban and rural Minnesota, academia, and nonprofit organizations dedicated to disease prevention.
